HOT YOGA HASTINGS FAQs

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

You are going to sweat so try and avoid loose clothing. Women normally wear
sports tops and bottoms. Men normally wear shorts with a T-shirt or sports top
    being optional.

  • SHOULD I EAT BEFORE CLASS?

Not directly before class. It is recommended that you abstain from food for a minimum of 1 to 3
hours before class as all the compression postures aren’t much fun while your
    body’s still digesting!

  • Do I need to drink a lot before and after class?

You are going to sweat so it’s important to keep the water flowing. We should all try and drink at least 2 litres of water every day. We recommend you drink 1/2 litre of water an hour before class – enough to keep you hydrated during class but not so much that you feel bloated during the postures. In the class itself, after the initial warm-up postures, you should sip water between postures whenever you need to. After class, it’s also really important to get those lost electrolytes back into your system as well.

  • How long do the classes last?

All classes last between 75-90 minutes. We have separate classes for Beginners and Mixed level abilities for the more experienced students, so just make sure you book onto one of the beginners classes if you are new to Yoga.

  • How do I book?

We recommend that you book your classes and Workshops in advance to avoid disappointment. All classes must be booked using our online Booking System.

  • Can I practice if I am pregnant?

We offer bespoke Pregnancy Yoga classes and Mum and Baby groups for this time of your life. Please see our schedule for these classes.

  • Am I too old?

No! Hot Yoga is especially good for older people as the heat really helps with circulation and the ageing process.

  • Do I have to be fit?

Hot Yoga is designed for all levels of fitness, but if you have a special medical
condition or injury, please consult your doctor or book an appointment with Leo Sharma, Registered Osteopath, for a consultation and an individual musculo-skeletal assessment. Also, inform your teacher before the class.

  • What if I’m not flexible?

All the more reason to come to Hot Yoga Hastings! You will be amazed how quickly
your flexibility improves and the heated room provides a safe environment for this.

  • Do you have showers?

Yes, we have a shower and changing area but as most of our clients are local, they always go home to shower.

  • Are there any studio rules I should be aware of?

Good question! Some of our classes are recorded for our Online Members so please do not talk during the class. Please do not be late for class as you may not be allowed in. No shoes allowed in the Yoga Studio, talk in quiet voices before and after class and enjoy your practice.

Our Yoga Workshops and Rituals take place on Sunday’s at certain times of the year. They provide a unique opportunity for you experience an immersion weekend, developing the qualities of meditation, self-reflection, progress and healing though your practice. These are often sacred moments where we connect to the changing seasons and to nature and the Universe – where we are able to bring an esoteric, spiritual angle to the Yoga to bring about transformation, lasting peace and contentment. We run regular Sound Healing Ceremonies during these Rituals, as well as Cacao and Tea Ceremonies. These cultural practices pair well with Yoga as medicines for the mind, body and soul.
